This new version will replace the extremely successful first generation XC60. For nine years, it has become the best selling compact SUV in Europe with nearly a million units sold globally.
“We have a long history of designing stylish and dynamic SUVs with the latest technology. The new XC60 is no exception. This is a perfect vehicle for an active lifestyle that represents our next step in the transformation plan” – Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said.
According to Volvo, the XC60 will be one of the safest models ever made by a manufacturer, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as Steer Assist – added to the City Safety system. The car also has a new system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation, using Steer Assist to avoid collision. In addition, Volvo’s Blind Spot Indication warning system now uses Steer Assist to reduce the risk of lane change collisions.
“We are focused on producing a car that can bring joy to every senses – from forward-looking vision in a beautifully arranged cabin, a confident, inspirational and safe journey. We are extremely concerned about making life easier for our customers by providing them with amenities and services to solve daily problems” – Samuelsson added.
The XC60 also has a Pilot Assist option. Of course, this is Volvo’s semiautomatic self-help drive system that can drive, accelerate and brake on roads at speeds up to 130 km/h.
The XC60’s top-of-the-line engine is the award-winning 407 horsepower T8 Twin Engine, and helps the small SUV accelerate from 0-100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds. . The new version will also be equipped with a 190 horsepower D4 diesel engine, while the D5 with PowerPulse technology is expected to be 235 horsepower. Gasoline fans will likely focus more on the T5 254 horsepower as well as the T6, with 320 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, but there are no plans to supply T6 engines in the UK.
About performance, the XC60 will be more user-friendly thanks to the four-zone CleanZone air conditioner that can remove harmful pollutants and toxins to provide “clean air like Scandinavian” in car.
