Volkswagen has officially unveiled the new VW Arteon, which will replace the CC. This new model is based on the Passat segment and is one of VW’s premium products.
Built on the basis of the VW MQB modular platform, the new Arteon features a 2.841mm wheelbase, a total length of 4,862mm, a width of 1,871mm and a height of 1,427mm.
Volkswagen judged Arteon to be a high-end Gran Turismo with a special design especially because of strong tendons, a sloping roof and many new designs.
Tobias Sühlmann, who is responsible for Arteon’s exterior design said: “Arteon’s athletic line is quite similar to the concept, and the features and functions found on the Arteon platform have evolved. Unlike the classic sedans, Gran Turismo offers more space and flexibility due to the increased wheelbase, fastback design such as the coupe and large rear doors.”
The new VW Arteon will soon be available with 2.0 liter TDI diesel engines in 148 horsepower, 187 horsepower or 236 horsepower versions. Gasoline engines are also offered with the same 3 variants of power, accompanied by a six-speed manual transmission.
The remaining versions are equipped with 7-speed automatic transmission. In addition, more powerful diesel and petrol variants will receive full-time four-wheel drive.
With Arteon, although the interior of the car is considered quite similar to the Passat but VW has provided all the latest technological features. Arteon’s technologies include the Active Info Display digital display (available on Golf), as well as the latest range of entertainment systems with screen sizes ranging from 6.5 to 9.2 inches.
As a luxury car, the Volkswagen Arteon also receives a modern lighting system with a strip of light running just below the vents and continues to pull on the door hinges. VW also claims that passenger space on Arteon has improved and expanded significantly, arguably the most comfortable segment due to the increase in wheelbase. Rear seats are also available for all three, with two Ergonomic seats that can separate the seats.
As expected, the VW Arteon will provide a range of driver assistance systems, including the company’s next-generation active cruise control systems, emergency assistance systems, POP proactive protection system …
With high-end Arteon, the competitors which Volkswagen wants to target are the famous names such as the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A5 Sportback. Therefore, the price will certainly be significantly higher than the VW Passat.
