Samsung plans to stop My Knox, switch to Secure Folder

Samsung is planning to stop its My Service, moving to a newer Secure Folder solution which users an download from the Galaxy Apps.

According to Androidcommunity, users who are using Samsung’s My Knox security solution should not be too surprised to receive an email from the Korean company saying that My Knox will no longer appear on the new smartphone version from Samsung in 2017.

The reason is Samsung does not want their users use the Secure Folder security solution available on Galaxy Apps. Specifically, if you are using a device which is running Android Nougat, you will probably see the available Secure Folder.

It is known that My Knox platform is rated for good security, but Samsung has decided to retire this platform and move to Secure Folder better to increase the security space consumers.  This is the best encrypted space for Galaxy devices where people can put important data and applications they want to protect, secure and enhance their privacy.

If you are affected by this change, you need to make sure to back up personal My Knox data. To do this, you can go to My Knox > Backup, then select Restore. Users need to have a Samsung account.

Once Secure Folder has been set up, you can restore your backed up data. Select Secure Folder> Backup> Restore. My Knox will not be disabled, you can still use it until the service shutdown, as Samsung said. The Korean tech giant also warns people that My Knox will no longer be maintained or updated.
