After official debut at Geneva last year, Aston Martin DB11 was put into production and is now just using V12 engine. This will change soon, because the British brand is said to be launching a V8 variant of the car at the Shanghai Auto Show that will take place in mid-April.
At this year’s largest car show in China, DB11 will launch a eight-cylinder 4.0-liter dual-turbocharged engine version derived from Mercedes-AMG, it’s expected to produce more than 530 horsepower. In other words, this would be the British version of the Mercedes AMG GTS – the same engine used.
This information comes from CarNewsChina magazine, many commented that the launch in China using DB11’s V8 engine is quite reasonable, because the size of the engine will help the car reduce more taxes. In addition, China is Aston Martin’s second largest market.
A new member of the DB11 family will be Volante, which is expected will be added to portfolio in the second half of this year. According to various reports, the car will be available to the public at the Geneva Motor Show 2018 and will be on sale shortly after.
A more powerful variant of the V12 DB11 is also being planned, probably with the addition of the letter S after its name. According to the paparazzi, the variant still uses a custom-built 5.2-liter engine to produce over 600 horsepower and give it a “more aggressive sound.” DB11 S will debut after DB11 Volante by the end of 2018.
Recently, a spokesman for Aston Martin confirmed that reports of the V8 DB11 will debut in Shanghai is inaccurate.
