Amazon announces Echo Show, an Alexa-powered speaker with touchscreen display

Amzon has officially announced the new connected speaker product, the Amazon show. The new left the cylindrical form factor of its predecessor and instead is now an intercom like gadget featuring a touch screen display.

Its display enables users to play Youtube videos, security cameras shopping lists, photos and more. It comes with a seven- inch diagonal, a 5 MP camera and a speaker underneath though the screen’ resolution hasn’t been showed.

The Echo Show integrates with Amazon music to provide on screen lyrics and one amazing feature that it can stream audio from other services such as Pandora, Spotify, Tuneln, an iHeartRadio through its Dolby speakers.

It has 8 microphones, beam-forming technology and noise cancellation to help the user pick up their voice no matter where you are. The device will also allow users to make video calls because of being powered by Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant. This includes Drop in, which appears to offer a quick way to check in with others, is used for closet friends and family. The Echo Show is also compatible with a range of smart app such as Ring, WeBo, Philips Hue, SmartThings, ecobee, and Wink.

The Echo Show is available for pre-oder with $229.99 in the US (£220 in the UK and €240 in Germany) and will be shipped on June 28. Users can pick up in two colors which are white and black.
